Instructor Training Manual: Preservice, Basic and Intermediate Training (1992)
When adults return to school, instruction must be excellent. Instructional quality received determines student success. Based on the belief that a well trained instructor is the most effective resource in Basis Skills instruction, selected content and strategies have been arranged to facilitate the training of professional and volunteer instructional personnel. The training sequence in this manual is suggested for preservice training of new instructors, basic training for instructors under close supervision, and intermediate training for experienced instructors who are on their own.

Instructor Training Manual: Communications (1998)
This manual incorporates information that can be applied to professional development training and team planning meetings, or applied to individual professional development plans and lessons. Chapters include: 1) Characteristics of the Adult Learner, 2) Designing Lesson Plans, 3) Participatory Workshops, and 4 ) Activities .

Instructor Training Manual: Writing (1999)
This manual presents new insights to help teach adults to write in colorful styles that can touch lives as does no other form of learning. It focuses on building within adult writers' competence, as well as confidence, so they are better equipped for their roles as family members, workers, and community members. Chapters include: 1) Writing Across Adult Basic Skills, and 2) Training Plans.

Instructor Training Manual: Understanding and Teaching Our Youngest Students (2003)
This manual provides research-based information, professional development training plans, and instructional activities that meet the needs of literacy providers who serve our younger students. The contents incorporate into any professional training or team planning. This manual also provides instructor reference and classroom plans.

Instructor Training Manual: Effective Training (2004)
The field of professional development is continually evolving. Theories change, new technology is developed, and the descriptive terminology continues to evolve. However, basic elements of professional development persist within the changing environment. This manual presents fundamental strategies proven over time to be effective for planning and presenting professional development for Adult Basic Skills educators. It includes eleven chapters to help trainers made the transition from trainer-centered professional development to participant-centered activity-based professional development.

Instructor Training Manual: Numeracy (2004)
This manual is designed to serve as a guide for professional development to enhance the teaching of Adult Basic Skills mathematics. It includes research-based information on the need for numeracy instruction as well as chapters on how to "defeat" math anxiety and how to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics. Trainers will find information to help with planning professional development activities while instructors will find it useful for their individual professional development in their quest to find ways to improve mathematics instruction. Instructor Training Manual: Inspire a Life of Reading: Lesson Plans To Engage Adult Beginning Readers (2005)
This manual includes activities in the areas of assessment, phonemic awareness, word analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Activities are complete with goals and objectives, directions, handouts, game boards, and material lists. All activities are correlated with reading competencies and are appropriate for individuals, teams, or large groups. (Also available on CD-ROM)

The purpose of this manual is to provide research-based information and activities for high-quality interactive training and writing programs in Adult Basic Skills.
